Greater strength means you can extend the distance between joists to 24″ (16″ offers firmer support), and available stress relief grooves reduce tension and protect against cupping and warping. Radius Milled Edges:

Offering a slightly rounded or eased edge, these boards are smoother and designed to distribute stress more evenly. Radius milled edges provide a more comfortable surface and promote drainage between boards.

Stress Relief Grooves

YellaWood® brand MasterDeck boards may feature stress relief grooves on the bottom of each board to help reduce the natural tendency of wood to cup. Stress groove styles may vary by region and you should check with your local dealer to learn more.

YellaWood® brand MasterDeck™ 2×6 decking is protected with an MCA treatment against rot, decay, and termite attack. Additional treatment options are available to align with how you want to use and finish the boards. RainWood^®brand is only available when lumber is not kiln dried after treatment (KDAT).

RainWood^® Brand

A factory-applied wax additive, RainWood® brand treatment is applied after the micronized copper azole preservative and assures water resistance on all four sides of the board, providing protection to the sides typically missed by a brush or spray-on repellents applied after installation. It minimizes cracking, warping and twisting due to swelling and shrinking from weather cycles, and it also means you don’t have to worry about applying a stain or seal to your project for up to a year after installation. Availability may vary by dealer.

Kiln-Dried After Treatment (KDAT)

Alerternatively, YellaWood® brand MasterDeck™ may be available in KDAT deck boards. KDAT lumber is pressure treated wood that has been kiln dried after the treatment process to remove excess moisture and bring the boards closer to their final, stable dimensions. This added step helps reduce shrinkage, warping, and movement after installation—making it a strong choice for projects where consistency and appearance matter.

To retain the benefits of KDAT lumber, we recommend you stain or seal it upon installation (no waiting period necessary). Once exposed to moisture, the decking will need to fully dry again (sprinkle test) before product can be applied. Availability may vary by dealer.

YellaWood® brand MasterDeck™ is not available in additional structural lumber sizes. It’s where strength and appearance come together in one board to help you build a great deck. YellaWood® brand MasterDeck™ 2×6 decking boards provide stronger support between joists, making them a solid choice when you want a board that looks better and works harder.
