YellaWood® brand pressure treated tongue and groove porch flooring and ceiling boards are kiln dried after treatment to help minimize shrinkage after installation. Tongue and groove porch wood can be used as flooring, ceiling boards or wall paneling. Designed for covered outdoor applications, the boards provide a tight fit that restricts water drainage and should be sheltered from the elements. The boards’ fit also creates a smooth surface appearance.

Prior to installation, keep KDAT tongue and groove porch flooring elevated, covered and completely dry. It must be primed on all six sides—including any field cuts. Paint, stain or seal your tongue and groove porch decking immediately after installation. Oil-based porch and floor enamel is recommended.

#2 grade pressure treated is rustic, with wane and large, frequent knots. This is the most basic option and best when planning to paint your porch flooring.

#1

#1 grade has some wane, some smaller knots and enhanced strength and appearance when compared to #2 porch flooring.

D&Btr (D and Better)

High-end, finish-grade lumber with small, tight knots and some variations in color and grain. Not as clear as C&Btr, D&Btr retains natural wood character and may be a more economical option because of these infrequent imperfections.

C&Btr (C and Better)

#1 Prime strength with enhanced clarity. The highest visual grade, C&Btr delivers the clearest surface with the smallest knots and fewest imperfections.

No bark edges
Infrequent (if any) pin knots, grain or color variations

Finishing with stains or sealing brings out the natural beauty of the wood.

Tongue and groove decking uses interlocking profiles where each board’s tongue fits into the adjacent board’s groove, creating a tight, uniform surface with no visible gaps between boards. This profile is purpose-built for porch flooring and ceiling applications where a seamless, finished appearance matters.

Center Match

Flush-fitting tongue and groove with the joint at the exact center (vs V-grooves or beveled edges), Center Match is an especially good fit when you want a completely smooth, modern finish, complementary of indoor styles. It can also be used for installation on a ceiling or as wall paneling.

V-Groove

Tongue and groove porch flooring that has angled edges and forms a V when it comes together at the seam. It still provides connected installation, but with added dimension and texture. V-groove is beneficial in both horizontal and vertical applications.

YellaWood® brand KDAT porch flooring should be primed on all six sides including field cuts prior to installation and promptly finished with paint, stain, or sealer after installation to protect the wood and maintain long-term performance.

Kiln-Dried After Treatment (KDAT)

KDAT lumber is pressure-treated wood that has been kiln dried after the treatment process to remove excess moisture and bring the boards closer to their final, stable dimensions. This added step helps reduce shrinkage, warping, and movement after installation—making it a strong choice for projects where consistency and appearance matter.

To retain the benefits of KDAT lumber, and protect your porch boards, we recommend you stain or seal it upon installation (no waiting period necessary). Once exposed to moisture, the wood will need to fully dry again (sprinkle test) before product can be applied.
