DIY Lazy Bench Plan

How to build an outdoor bench for relaxing, with a spot for whatever you’re drinking

The lazy bench plan builds a DIY outdoor bench designed for simple comfort with a twist. Instead of needing a separate side table, it includes a built-in pull-down drink tray with cup holders, so your refreshment stays close while you relax outdoors.

When the tray is not in use, it folds neatly upright to create extra seating space for a third companion, whether that’s a friend, family member or pet. If you want to learn how to build an outdoor bench that does more, this build turns a basic bench into a functional spot for everyday backyard downtime.

Before you get started, please read our info on safety, fasteners and building tips, and please consult our Terms of Use.
