With YellaWood® brand Signature, you can choose from our base-level pressure treated decking grades (Standard, #2 and #1) knowing you’re getting good strength with a more rustic feel. YellaWood^® brand Signature pressure treated deck boards are affordable decking offered in everyday working grades that balance appearance and value. Standard, #2 and #1 grade deck boards are well-suited for typical backyard projects where you want reliable performance and a natural wood look, without upgrading to prime or premium visual grades.

Signature boards arrive ready for outdoor use and can be stained or sealed once they’ve had time to dry. They may be available as KDAT or with RainWood^® brand water repellent treatment depending on region.

#2

#2 grade pressure treated lumber is rustic, with wane (visible bark edges) and large, frequent knots. This is the most basic option and best when appearance is a less important factor. Available in 2×6 deck boards with square edge profile.

Standard

Standard grade decking allows for bark edges, though wane is minimal compared to #2. It still has frequent, large-sized knots. Available in 5/4 boards with radius milled edges, it retains its strength without bowing or bounce when installed on joists that are closer together (12″ is recommended, with a max of 16″).

#1

#1 grade has some wane, some smaller knots and enhanced strength and appearance when compared to #2 and standard grades. It’s the top of the Signature range. Available in 2×6 deck boards with square edge profile.

Signature treated deck boards are available in the profiles used most often on residential decks, so planning your layout stays simple.

Radius Milled Edges:

Offering a slightly rounded or eased edge, these boards are smoother and designed to distribute stress more evenly. Radius milled edges provide a more comfortable surface and promote drainage between boards. YellaWood^® offers radius milled edges on our 5/4 Standard grade deck boards.

Square Edges:

Featuring straight-cut edges (not rounded) for 90 degree angles, square edge boards are ideal when you need something strong and secure for tight lines. They install easily with front-facing fasteners. YellaWood^® brand offers square edges on our 2×6 #2 and #1 grade treated deck boards where extra thickness or a more substantial feel is preferred.

YellaWood® Signature is MCA treated lumber for decks. These boards can also be kiln dried after treatment (KDAT) or have Rainwood^® brand water repellent added after treatment, depending on your region. Rainwood^®brand cannot be applied when lumber is kiln dried after treatment (KDAT).

RainWood^® Brand

A factory-applied wax additive, RainWood® brand treatment is applied after the micronized copper azole preservative and assures water resistance on all four sides of the board, providing protection to the sides typically missed by a brush or spray-on repellents applied after installation. It minimizes cracking, warping and twisting due to swelling and shrinking from weather cycles, and it also means you don’t have to worry about applying a stain or seal to your project after installation for up to a year. Availability may vary by dealer.

Kiln-Dried After Treatment (KDAT)

YellaWood® brand Signature pressure treated wood that has been kiln dried after treatment (KDAT) has been placed in a kiln to reduce excess moisture and bring the boards closer to their intended, stable dimensions vs air drying. It helps reduce shrinking, cupping or warping.

To retain the benefits of KDAT lumber, we recommend you stain or seal it upon installation (no waiting period necessary). Once exposed to moisture, the decking will need to fully dry again (sprinkle test) before product can be applied. Availability may vary by dealer.

#2 Grade is availabile in additional structural sizes.

Signature 2×6 deck boards are manufactured and treated for use in common outdoor applications. When installed and fastened according to current building codes and best practices, they provide a solid surface for everyday residential traffic and backyard use.

For spans, loading and specific structural questions, consult local codes and your design professional, then confirm size and grade requirements with your dealer.
